Welcome to my new blog! I’ve created this blog to share all of the things we love in my household, things I make in my graphic design hobby, and random things about the homeschooling life! I hope you enjoy my blog and find some of the things I post useful and interesting! Thanks for stopping by!
So my husband and I were sent a new box from Influenster, and it contained the Dove Dry Spray, one for him and one for me. I was excited to try it! I got this stuff and thought oh cool, Dove, I bet this is going to be a great product!
My first thought when applying was that it wasn’t very comfortable to put on…. it sort of burned my underarms, but the smell was great so I went on about my day. Well, seeing as the can says 48 hour protection, I was surprised when about 4 PM that same day I could begin to smell my own sweat. For the next couple of hours I just walked around trying to keep my arms down! I don’t normally use any sort of clinical or special deodorant, the brand I normally use at least lasts all day! Same issue for my husbands’ as well. He went back to the Old Spice deodorant he usually uses.
- The smell was nice
- application was easy
- the bottle was sleek and modern
- Not very effective
- application was not very comfortable
I would not recommend this product for anyone who has excessive or very potent sweat at all! It might still be a great product, but it’s definitely NOT for us.
So my family really enjoys doing food as Christmas gifts, and for the past couple of years we have made candy, cookies, and other edible items and given them out to family and friends.
My daddy taught me that there’s nothing that touches the heart like a home cooked food or meal, and I definitely agree with that!
So anyway, we decided to go with sweets this year, but in a more simplistic way (since time kind of got away from us the past few weeks). We made three different types of cookies and some peppermint mocha rice crispy treats!
The cookies we made were:
-White Chocolate, Cranberry, and Macadamia Nut
– Butterfinger & Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip
– Salted Caramel & Dark Chocolate
I found the recipes for these on Pinterest other than the Salted Caramel, which I bought the mix for at Wal-Mart and just added the chocolate chips to the mix!
Now for my Peppermint Mocha Rice Crispy Treats!
- 2 – 16 oz. bags of mini marshmallows
- 10 cups crispy rice cereal
- 2 TBSP instant coffee granules
- 15 Bob’s Sweet Stripes individual soft melt peppermints, crushed
- Baker’s Semi Sweet Chocolate, 2 pieces
- 2 tsp cocoa
- 4 TBSP butter
Melt the marshmallows, butter, coffee granules, cocoa, and about 2/3 of the crushed peppermints down in a large sauce pan until completely melted and mixed together.
Remove from stove, and add your rice cripsy cereal, mixing together well.
Once mixed together, transfer over onto a pan and flatten out. Let cool for about 20 minutes, and then melt down your chocolate. Drizzle with a spoon over the treats, and then top with the remaining peppermint candy.
It’s so simple but so delicious, I hope you like it as much as we do!
I’m an active member of Influenster, so from time to time they send me free products to try! This time around I got the Comfort Box, which included a variety of items, one of those being Annie’s Organic Tomato Soup. My kids aren’t very big on tomato soup but I figured it was free, so what the hay?
My kids had it for lunch with goldfish crackers and this is probably the first time they ate tomato soup, where they weren’t complaining about it being yucky. I was very surprised, especially since there are no added sugars or sweetners. I don’t think I will buy this item personally, because my kids still don’t care for it much, BUT I would recommend it for anyone out there who does like tomato soup.
- Sugar and Preservative Free
- Container is a bit bulky
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Also feel free to check out Annie’s website- HERE to see all of the other amazing products they offer!
Our community did Trick or Treating on the town square the day before actual Halloween falls, October 30th. The kids each picked their costumes online (so they could be exactly what they wanted and not be limited to Wal-Mart’s selection) and Will decided to be a creepy zombie and Lily decided she wanted to be a Veterenarian (Vegetarian as she pronounced it, HAHA).
With Lily’s costume it was pretty simple, we got her some scrubs and a doctor kit that included a stethescope, glasses, and a name tag, and then wrapped toilet paper around the leg of a stuffed dog that belongs to Will.
Will’s costume was a little more challenging for me since I didn’t just want to do plain jane makeup like I see every Halloween. I’m a huge fan of The Walking Dead so I wanted to do something along those lines, but less scary. SO! Off to Youtube I went and was very surprised that there were so many tutorials on how to make zombie makeup look realistic! I went over to Amazon and purchased Graftobian Clear Liquid Latex which cost me only $5.99 and also some Mehron Stage Blood which cost me $5.23. If I had gone to a Halloween store or even Walmart, it would have cost me a lot more! With the help of those, my regular face foundation, and some purple, green, yellow, and red eyeshadow, I made what I think is a pretty impressive zombie!!! Here are the finished results!
Hope everyone else had an amazing and safe Halloween!
Hey guys! I’m an active member on Influenster, which means they send me products to try from time to time and then I review them. This time around they sent me some Reese’s Spread to try and share what I think, so here goes!
We tried it two different ways, once with pretzels and then another time with green apples. I have to say, I think I like it better with the pretzels, but my kids definitely preferred the apples (They aren’t big fans of pretzels anyway). This stuff is really tasty, but I think if it were a bit more creamy and not so thick, it would be easier to dip… my pretzels kept breaking off when I was trying to scoop some up. Also, it’s very rich, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but after a handful of pretzels I had to put it down (which was probably a good thing for my waistline hehe). I would definitely purchase this stuff on my own, it was good enough that I would have it in my household again.
Overall, this is what I think about the Reese’s Spread – Peanut Butter and Chocolate.
- Very Kid Friendly
- Too Thick
- Pricey (I saw it at Walmart and was surprised at the price)
Hope you enjoyed my review and please feel free to share your thoughts!
